Code of Conduct & Restricted-Zone Policy for Accredited Media Teams
1. Purpose
This Code of Conduct and Restricted-Zone Policy establishes the rules and expectations for all accredited media representatives covering Imeobi Media–supervised events, including the Ofala Festival. The policy is designed to uphold respect for tradition, protect the dignity of the Obi and the palace, and ensure smooth media operations.
2. Code of Conduct
- Respect for Tradition & Authority
- Press must strictly observe palace and cultural protocols at all times.
- Disrespectful conduct toward the Obi, Ndi Ichie, or traditional leaders will result in immediate revocation of accreditation.
- Accreditation Badge
- Accredited press must display their official badge visibly at all times.
- Badges are non-transferable and must be returned if accreditation is withdrawn.
- Dress & Appearance
- Attire must be modest and culturally appropriate.
- Black clothing, distressed jeans, or inappropriate outfits are not permitted.
- Bright, traditional, or neutral-colored attire is encouraged.
- Professional Conduct
- No pushing, shoving, or obstructing ceremonial processions.
- No aggressive questioning or harassment of dignitaries, guests, or officials.
- No smoking, eating, or drinking in restricted areas while on duty.
- Filming & Photography
- Filming and photography are allowed only within designated zones.
- Unauthorized live-streaming, drone use, or private rebroadcast is prohibited.
- Large equipment (tripods, monopods, etc.) must not obstruct ceremonial views or block movement.
- Media Feed Access
- Imeobi Media will provide an official clean feed.
- Direct connections, cable tapping, or tampering with broadcast equipment are prohibited unless authorized by Ime Obi Media Team.
3. Restricted-Zone Policy
Zone Categories
- Z1 – Ofala Arena (Very Limited):
- The core ceremonial grounds and the direct vicinity of the Obi.
- Access is strictly reserved for palace-appointed Imeobi Media staff.
- Unauthorized entry will result in immediate removal.
- Z2 – Pavilion, Press Pen & Interview Zone (Controlled Access):
- Assigned to accredited press for controlled coverage.
- Suitable for interviews, photography, and filming.
- Requires visible accreditation and compliance with media protocol staff.
- Z3 – Press Canopy/Press Stand (General Access):
- The designated stand for general coverage.
- Open to all accredited press, subject to capacity limits and orderly conduct.
- Ime Obi Media will provide a clean feed that teams can tap from.
Rules of Access
- Press must remain within their assigned zones unless escorted by protocol officers.
- Unauthorized entry into Z1 constitutes a severe breach.
- All movement between zones must be orderly and directed by Imeobi Media protocol staff.
4. Enforcement & Sanctions
- First Offense: Verbal warning and written violation notice.
- Second Offense: Revocation of accreditation and removal from premises.
5. Consent
All accredited press representatives must read, understand, and sign this document as a condition of accreditation.
